Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, joined by Wyoming congressional delegation, Sens. Michael Enzi and John Barrasso, and Wyoming Gov. Dave Freudenthal, light a 67-foot-tall Engelmann spruce from Wyoming in front of the Capitol today.
This year’s tree comes from the Briger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming covered with 5,000 ornaments made by Wyoming schoolchildren. Helping light the tree will be a child from Wyoming.
The 83-year-old tree will be on the west lawn of the Capitol and will be lit every evening at dusk from now until January 1st.
U.S. Navy Band Washington, D.C., Ceremonial Brass provided music for the event.
